Betsy is a mom who knows what it’s like to live in the trenches of parenting unconventional kids. She has experienced first-hand the grief that revisits and the joy that surprises. She believes that there are unexpected gifts to be found along the journey. She has a passion for walking alongside families who find themselves struggling with the emotional toll and grief of caring for those with special needs.
While she has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University. It is her work as mom to three children that has taught her the greatest lessons. Parenting autism, multiple medical conditions, attachment/trauma related adoption while homeschooling, attending IEP’s, living in doctor’s offices, and always researching. She and her husband, Russ, have been married for 24 years and reside in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.
